Auntie Kelsey's Wedding

Auntie Kelsey got married this week.  She looked beautiful and we were so happy for her. Annette made the cake and I helped her decorate it, it was so fun and it turned out so cute.

Kelsey's friends put on a batchlorette party for her and they dressed her up in an old wedding dress and dragged her through the mall.  s

Happy 11th birthday Madison!

Journal Games

Madison is such an amazing kid.  She tried out for the running club at school all by herself, and made the team.  She has been practicing every Monday and Tuesday for the past month and today she competed in Journal games at the Butterdome.  The amazing part of it is that she had been throwing up the whole night before and was feeling so sick the day of the race. She missed school and was feeling weak and nauss
ious  all day, but she ran her heart out and they won their heat.

Dex at the hospital

 Feeling pretty sick and sad
Starting to feel better/playing on the ipad.
Getting ready to leave the house in the ambulance.  He looks so sick.

Yesterday was one of the scariest days for our family.  Dex has a heart condition called SVT,  basically its where his heart will begin to beat very rapidly.  He goes pale and begins to sweat, and just wants to lie down.  We were told this is a minor condition unless he losses consciousness  or begins to throw up or lasts longer than 30 min, in this case we should take him to the stollery Children's Hospital.  On monday around 11:20 he told me his heart was beating, I didn't think much about it and told him to tell me when it stopped, I completely put it out of mind after this.  20 min later he told me it was still beating.  I began to get a little concerned and thought we might need to head to the hospital, I went upstairs and got dressed and ready, I came down and he said it was still beating.  I told him we were going to the hospital, he stood up to join me and immediately passed out.  Cam caught him and he came to but immediately lost consciousness again, but came to a few seconds later.  I ran and called 911.  The ambulance came and with sirens going we were on our way.  En route Dex had the oxygen mask, an IV put in and was so pale and just sweating.  They told me what would probably happen would be they would stop his heart and then inject a medicine into his heart to restart it.  Basically reseting it.  I became a little teary at this point.  Scary.  We arrived to a whole room waiting for us, his heart at this point was beating between 240-271 beats per minute. They began trying Vegal manuvers where he blows on his thumb or bears down, put his face on ice.  At this point it had been beating for over an hour.  Finally, they tipped him upside down and his heart began to slow.  They are worried when the heart beats this fast for this long because eventually the body begins to shut down to protect the heart or they go into cardiac arrest.  His heart stayed at around 140-160 which is still too high for a 6 year old boy.  They gave him an ultra sound and said possibly his heart had been damaged from beating for so long or a virus had entered his heart.  These both turned out negative so they decided to just put him on a medication and IV fluids.  By morning his heart had returned to 60-90 beats per minute.  I stayed over night with him and Cam went home to all three other kids throwing up and having diarrhea, it was a really rough and stressful night for him.  Rough two days for our family ;)

Big Brother

Cooper is such a great big brother to Spencer, he loves to make him laugh and smile.  Spencer wasn't feeling good and Cooper took him in his arms and lied down with him.  Coop was so proud he was able to put Spencer to sleep. He is such a sweet thoughtful big brother.

Best Friends

Cooper and Dexter really are best friends.  They love to be together and have started sleeping together in the top bunk. I don't know how they fit, but they love it.

Primary Snow Day

The primary held an outside winter party for the ward.  They had snowshoeing,  sledding, snowfort building etc.  The kids had a great time and it was perfect weather.  Cam and Cooper were there too but we didn't get any pictures of them this time :(

 Dexter and Joey

Spencer fell asleep for most of the time.
